Who is KGD Designs?

Kevin Desharnais- Principal

Kevin was born and raised in Westchester, NY and now lives in the antique home he restored by hand. He received his graduate degree in Architecture from the City College of NY.

Kevin began with a hand’s on approach to design, working as a laborer, carpenter, cabinetmaker and owner of a small construction company throughout high school and college. After graduating from City College he spent 4 years running a small architecture firm in Westchester, NY specializing in high end- custom residential work. Kevin then left Architecture for his other interest, the construction process itself, and joined a very reputable construction company in New Canaan, CT. For the next 8 years he was a project manager and then graduated to the position of head estimator, preparing bids on various construction projects, collectively totaling over 500 million dollars. Kevin then left New Canaan in search of even more complex projects and spent the subsequent 5 years working with elite residential construction companies in the Manhattan and outer boroughs market, serving as both head of estimating and project executive. Seeking even more experience from a different perspective Kevin has spent the next 4 years as an owner’s representative, watching over in excess of a billion dollars worth of building costs.

At this point Kevin can offer a wide range of services to his clients: Owner Representation, Design Services, Design-build Construction Packages or Construction Management services. 

For projects requiring General Contracting services Kevin has now joined forces with Mike Davis and Lakota Builders to be able to better serve his clients and have total control in both their experience and the construction process itself, able to utilize all the knowledge he has amassed in his 30 year career.    

Mike Davis

Mike Davis owns Lakota Builders which is an established GC firm with over 30 years in the construction industry.  Mike began as a finish carpenter and worked hard to start his own construction company. 

Mike and his employees run a diversely talented contracting company catering to high end residential and boutique commercial clients. Mike and Kevin have a long history of working together on projects when Mike was one of Kevin's most valuable subcontractors and so the decision to formally join up as partners on larger construction projects under KGD Designs was easy one.
